Muskoka Lakes Virtual Regatta 2020

For many years, Chestnut Park has proudly supported the Muskoka Lakes Association (MLA) and we are delighted to announce that we will continue doing so in 2020!

The MLA was formed in 1894 and is Canada’s oldest cottage association. Their mission is the responsible use, appreciation, and dialogue of the beautiful Muskoka environment that benefits both present and future generations of residents.

As a result of COVID-19, the MLA’s 127th Annual Aquatic Regatta Challenge, North America’s oldest continuously run co-ed regatta, had to cancel their in-person event. However, they’re going virtual! Here’s how the event works:

Prior to the Civic long weekend, you can join the MLA for online challenges and activities that are designed for you or your family to complete on your own dock! Each Friday, the Aquatic Regatta Co-Chairs Jeff Patterson and Roslyn Manchee will announce challenges with a 15-second video posted on their Instagram and Facebook. For those who participate, they will request submissions of the challenge over the weekend and will ask those submitting to post on their Instagram story and tag @preservingmuskoka and use the hashtag #127MLAregatta. The challenges will include any kind of man-powered floating device or a swimming-based challenge.

As Chestnut Park has always valued working alongside the Muskoka Lakes Association, we hope that you can take part in these fun challenges for yourself. Please check out the Muskoka Lakes Association Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter pages for updates and more information that you won’t want to miss!
