How does moving to Jamaica sound?
This is our affiliate property this week and looking at it will melt away the winter.
The Little Hill estate in the legacy resort of The Tryall Club is a masterpiece of understated elegance infused with Jamaica’s welcoming lifestyle. Completed in 1959 by acclaimed architect Robert Hartley in the classic West Indian style and as the first home built at Tryall, it commands the club’s premier location atop a 200-foot hill, providing breathtaking 360-degree views of the Caribbean Sea, surrounding hills, and the club’s internationally acclaimed championship golf course. Completely renovated in 2012 and magnificently furnished, the villa is built around a circular 30-foot-diameter swimming pool, with extensive covered terraces throughout and gardens bursting with bougainvillea and anchored by mature trees. Ideal for entertaining, Little Hill has been host to international celebrities over the years, including the late Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother who stayed here.
The villa, spanning in excess of 10,000 square feet, is introduced through double mahogany doors opening to a soaring two-level entrance hall with 18th-century cut-stone floor and staircase, appointed with stunning murals and a grand chandelier, leading to the main level. The cathedral-ceilinged living room, furnished in blue and white, flows into the dining room, the bar, the family room and music center. Mahogany floors are throughout the house and all doors are locally hand carved. The superb kitchen is a chef’s delight and completely fitted with all the modern equipment needed for entertaining. There is also a flower room and powder room.
The master suite contains two bedrooms, three marble bathrooms ensuite, and an office. The separate guest bedroom wing contains three bedrooms each with marbled bathroom ensuite. Fans and new air-conditioning units cool all the rooms.
On the west side of the villa is a covered terrace, 100-feet long and overlooking the sea, with a dining area which easily seats 24 people and, because of its elevated position, enjoys gentle breezes throughout the year. On the east side is another long and covered terrace, popular for entertaining around the pool. A tennis court with covered spectator-viewing area completes this alfresco oasis.
The villa is magnificently furnished and has a particularly fine collection of Jamaican paintings, as well as lovely linen, china, and objets d’art. The property comes fully furnished and equipped with the exception of certain works of art and personal items.
A generous staff quarter, renovated in 2012 at the same time as the main house, includes five bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a kitchen. There is also a gardener’s quarters with a bedroom and shower. In addition to garage parking for four cars, the sale includes the Little Hill bus and three golf carts.
