A Mini Guide To Lytton Park

As one of the most desired neighbourhoods for families, Lytton Park is a quiet and charming place to live. Located in the “North Toronto” district, this neighbourhood is filled with streets lined with mature trees, manicured gardens, and stunning character homes that are centred around the neighbourhood’s namesake, Lytton Park. With only a 15 minute drive to the downtown core, the commute from home to work is a breeze!

In the late 1800s, Lytton Park was established as a suburb of Toronto, and found the value of the area raised when the Metropolitan Street Railway chose to service this small neighbourhood. In the early 1900s, this neighbourhood was finally amalgamated with Toronto, which spurred the growth and establishment of this fine neighbourhood.

The real estate in Lytton Park features homes that were built on large lots between 1890 and 1930, with mostly Georgian and Tudor architecture. Many of the homes have undergone massive renovations that have transformed the architecture of the neighbourhood. Doctors, lawyers, stockbrokers and corporate executives make up a majority of the population here. Residents value the quiet, convenience, and easy access to transportation. You can access the TTC’s Yonge-University line at Lawrence station a short walk away, as well as the Avenue Road North bus from Eglinton to Highway 401.

Lytton Park features a lot of great outdoor spaces that are perfect for enjoying the outdoors all year round. Lytton Park is a 1.7 hectare park that is a great spot to enjoy the beautiful weather in the summer. You can play a game of tennis on one of the three outdoor courts or enjoy a leisurely round of lawn bowling, as the park is home to both the North Toronto Tennis Club and the North Toronto Lawn Bowling & Croquet Club. It is also a great spot for children with a children’s playground onsite. Herbert Begg Memorial Garden is close by, perfect for enjoying a walk and appreciating the beautiful garden. Otter Creek Park is popular for its skating rink, used for skateboarding in the summer. If you love winter activities, Glenview Public School is well-known for its perfect toboggan hill.

This is a great area for raising children, especially with the fantastic schools in the surrounding area. There are options for public, catholic, and private schools available, including Havergal College and St. Clements School. This is also a great spot for children, as the quiet streets are perfect to play outside without the busy streets like other areas of the city. This area is also very walkable, which allows easy access to shopping and dining in Lytton Park, or running other errands. This convenient location is perfect for a leisurely stroll or a quick pop over to the grocery store to grab dinner for the family.
